Smitech™ Professional Care: Maintaining Your 200m Diver-Spec Seal
Your Smitech™ Grand Heritage is a precision-engineered instrument capable of withstanding depths of up to 200 meters. However, maintaining its "Executive Grade" waterproof integrity requires proper handling and routine care.
1. The Golden Rule: Check the Crown
Before any contact with water, ensure the crown (the winding knob) is fully pushed in or screwed down tight against the case.
- Why: The crown is the primary entry point for moisture. If it is pulled out or loose, the internal gaskets cannot form a watertight seal.
2. Operation Under Water
Never pull out the crown or adjust the calendar/time while the watch is submerged or even while it is still wet.
- Pro Tip: Water pressure can force moisture through the seals if they are engaged while the crown is in motion.
3. Post-Saltwater Rinse
If you take your Grand Heritage into the ocean, always rinse it thoroughly with fresh, lukewarm water afterward.
- Why: Salt is highly corrosive. If left to dry, salt crystals can build up around the seals and the rotating bezel, causing them to degrade or jam over time.
4. Avoid the "Steam Trap"
While your watch is rated for 200m, we recommend avoiding hot showers, saunas, or steam rooms. * The Physics: Extreme heat causes the metal case and the rubber gaskets to expand at different rates. This can allow microscopic steam particles to enter the case, leading to fogging under the crystal.
5. Annual Gasket Inspection
For watches used frequently in water, we recommend a professional pressure test and gasket lubrication once every 12–24 months. Rubber seals can naturally dry out over time; keeping them supple ensures the "Soul of Precision" stays dry.
